A viewing and funeral services are scheduled tomorrow for the Barnegat High School student who has been described as an "honor student, [who was] looking forward to graduation and joining the military." According to information posted on the Barnegat Funeral Home's website, Kerrin K. Ramesar, 17, of Barnegat passed April 14, 2013. Born in Trinidad, his family emigrated to the United States in 2000 and settled in Barnegat. Kerrin was an Honor Roll student at Barnegat High School, where he was a member of the La Crosse team. He was also passionate about motor sports. "Not everyone knew him but he meant a lot to everyone," said Barnegat junior Ashley Hall, who spoke on behalf of about a three dozen students at the Board of Education Tuesday…

Candles in hand, mourners walked through downtown Toms River in memory of Holt, 6
Mourners walked through downtown Toms River Friday night in memory of Brandon Holt, 6, who was killed in an accidental shooting earlier this week. Carrying white candles, community and family members walked from the Carmona-Bolen Home for Funerals to Huddy Park, where the flames then were extinguished. Police blocked Main Street to vehicle traffic as mourners walked through the downtown. Among those present was Randel Holt, the victim's uncle, who said that the incident was an accident. He thanked the community for supporting his family. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Toms River, following visitation from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.

Services planned for Brandon Holt of Toms River, who was fatally shot Monday by a 4-year-old
Friends, family and community leaders tried to pull together Thursday as services were arranged for the 6-year-old Toms River boy who was fatally shot by a 4-year-old neighbor. Visitation for Brandon Holt will be held Friday, April 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m., as well as Saturday, April 13 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Carmona-Bolen Home for Funerals in Toms River. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Toms River, according to Holt’s obituary. Community leaders also spoke of having a vigil on Saturday night, although such plans were not finalized as of Thursday morning. The paralyzed Lacey firefighter and Union City police officer was laid to rest Friday
Before the casket draped with an American flag was placed on the back of a Lanoka Harbor fire truck to be transported to its resting place, bagpipes sounded to “Amazing Grace.” An emergency scanner went off with a member of the Ocean County Sherriff’s Department speaking in honor of Daniel Inglis Jr. “You will be sorely missed but not forgotten. Rest in peace Daniel,” the scanner said. Inglis, 25, of Lanoka Harbor — a police officer with the Union City Police Department and a volunteer with the Lanoka Harbor Fire Department — died on Monday, a year and six days after he suffered paralyzing injuries due to a motor vehicle accident. Dan DiFabio, 18, was known for his smile and humor. “Dan, you were so amazing! You always had a smile on your face and you always made everyone smile and laugh around you,” Tina Monbleau said on Facebook. The Lacey Township High School senior was pronounced dead at his Forked River home Tuesday. The circumstances surrounding his death have not been released. Monbleau continued to call DiFabio a “sweetheart.” “We have such an amazing angel watching over us now and you’re in a very special place right now,” she said. A candlelight vigil was held in DiFabio’s memory Tuesday night and a makeshift Facebook page has been created in his honor. As of Wednesday afternoon, the page had 1,988 likes. With an honor guard of retired Marines standing by, the body of Marine Cpl. Christopher M. Monahan Jr. was returned to Ocean County on Tuesday. An escort of nearly 100 motorcycles, comprised of cyclists from the Legion Riders, the Patriot Riders, the Patriot Guard, as well as NJ state troopers, police from Toms River and police and firefighters from Island Heights, guarded and guided the path of Monahan's return, from the Delaware Memorial Bridge to Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home on Main Street in Toms River. Beginning December 1, eight Ocean County school districts will be receiving money from a New Jersey insurance fund in the first round of reimbursements for damage from Sandy. Barnegat, Beach Haven, Little Egg Harbor, Long Beach Island, Point Pleasant Borough, Southern Regional, Stafford Township school districts and Ocean County College are part of School Alliance Insurance Fund (SAIF), which recently received $5 million from Lexington Insurance as a prepayment for losses that could eventually total $20 million statewide, according to Stephanie Voorhees, SAIF chairwoman. Celestine Kreitzer was pronounced dead on Tuesday, Oct. 30 due to hypothermia
Celestine Kreitzer was known as a “lovely lady.” Kreitzer, 94, of Forked River was one of four Ocean County residents who died due to the impact of Hurricane Sandy. She was pronounced dead on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 2:35 p.m. due to hypothermia, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office. “She was courteous and outreaching. She was a real lady," neighbor Margaret Mukherjee said. "She sounded like a very gracious woman. In this day and age, that’s a wonderful value.” Kreitzer was found that Tuesday afternoon by her caretaker, who had reportedly tried to convince Kreitzer to evacuate on Monday afternoon but failed as she refused. “She died in a house she loved,” Mukherjee said.
