Stafford Police Report: Man Charged With Assaulting Police

Police also report traffic accidents this week.

A 54-year-old Manahawkin man was arrested and charged May 3 for three counts of aggravated assault on police, as well as other charges after an incident in the TD Bank parking lot. Police said that Patrolman Robert Mullin and Ptl. Marc Potter responded around 3 p.m. to the TD Bank located on Route 72 East at East Road for a disturbance in the parking lot. Upon arrival, an initial investigation indicated Brian Pawlowski of Manahawkin had been in the TD Bank's drive through. At this time, a female in the vehicle behind his allegedly accidentally beeped her vehicle's horn. Pawlowski became enraged and exited his vehicle to confront the female. Old or young I would make sure this idiot trembled with fear the next time he went to intimidate some woman in a car. STAFFORD POLICE REPORT: Witnesses Sought in School Bus Accident

No injuries reported.

Stafford Police are asking for witnesses to a motor vehicle collision that occurred on Cedar Bridge Road near Southern Regional High School and involved a school bus. On April 12, around 3:30 p.m., a Nissan Altima operated by Robert Forcella Jr, 19, Toms River, was traveling east toward Route 9 when it collided with a school bus crossing over Cedar Bridge Avenue from the high school to the middle school, police said. The bus was operated by James Villani, 48 of West Creek, NJ.  The school bus did have students on board, however no injuries were reported. Neither driver reported any injuries from the incident. on April 8, around 8 p.m., Stafford Township police arrested Jorge Martinez, 46, of San Antonio, Texas for driving while intoxictad. Police were called to the Holiday Inn parking lot in reference to a one-vehicle accident. Police arrived and the initial investigation at the scene revealed that Martinez had struck a light pole with the 2006 GMC Sierra he was driving, knocking it to the ground. …   more ›

STAFFORD POLICE REPORT: Woman Arrested for Missing Court

Woman was processed and released under her own recognizance.

A 21-year-old woman was arrested and charged with failing to appear in a Stafford court recently. Daina M. McIntire, of the Ocean Acres section of Manahawkin, was processed and released under her own recognizance pending a future court date with Stafford Township Municipal Court. The arresting officer was Patrolman Richard J. Sinopoli, Jr.

Bicyclist Hit by Car in Stafford

Woman was flown to Atlantic City Trauma.

A 27-year-old Manahawkin woman was flown to Atlantic City Trauma Center Wednesday after the bike she was riding was hit by a car.  Around 9:30 a.m., Stafford Township police responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a bicyclist and a vehicle in front of Southern Regional High School.  An investigation suggested that a vehicle operated by Gregory Nelson, 28, of Lanoka Harbor was traveling south on Route 9 in front of the high school and collided with a bicycle operated by Marta Velasquez, of Manahawkin.  Velasquez sustained severe injury from the collision and was airlifted to Atlantic City Trauma center for treatment, police said.  Traffic was diverted down Cedar Bridge Road during the scene investigation.  Velasquez was listed in …

STAFFORD POLICE REPORT: Police Investigate Lighthouse Drive Accident

Stafford Police are investigating an accident that sent one person to Jersey Shore Medical Center for treatment of a head injury. The accident took place yesterday around 4:30 p.m. at Lighthouse Drive and Clearwater Avenue, according to Lt. Thomas Dellane. According to police, a pedestrian who was jogging in the shoulder attempted to cross the road prior to the cross-walk. As the pedestrian started to cross the road, a vehicle was passing by at the same time resulting in the pedestrian running into the side of the vehicle.  The pedestrian sustained a head injury from the incident and was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center for treatment.  Police said that speed was not a factor in the collision, and that names of the involved …

Stafford Police Report: Barnegat Man Charged with Burglarizing Cars

Other arrests this week on outstanding warrants.

A 19-year-old Barnegat man has been arrested and charged in Stafford Township for multiple counts of burglary. On Jan. 18 Stafford Township Police arrested Michael Dauphin, following being called earlier that week to Hazelton Court in reference to multiple vehicles that had been burglarized. A resident of the area observed a suspicious vehicle in the area during the overnight hours and was able to provide the vehicle registration to police.  Further investigation led Dauphin's arrest. Items stolen during the burglary included multiple global positioning systems, a camera, multiple DVD’s, a lasersight tripod, Ray Ban sunglasses and loose change. The value of the stolen property is in excess of $1,000 and all items stolen have been recovered…

Stafford Police Respond to Three-Car Accident

One driver reported to Southern Ocean Medical Center, others uninjured.

On Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012 around 5:00 p.m., Stafford Police responded to a three-car accident on Route 9 and Manor Drive.  Police said that a car driven by Andrew Biddar, 22, of Barnegat, struck the back of a car driven by Teresa Vargas Andrade, 32, of Manahawkin. The accident caused her vehicle to be propelled from the northbound lane of Route 9, travel into the oncoming southbound lane of travel, and strike Michael Seeloff’s vehicle. Biddar was issued a summons for careless driving.  Vargas Andrade was issued a summons for unlicensed driver. Seeloff complained of neck pain and was transported to Southern Ocean Medical Center and later released.  No other injuries were reported at the scene. Ptl. Richard J. Sinopoli, Jr. responded.

Stafford Police Investigate One-Car Accident on Route 539

Man flown to hospital after accident Saturday morning.

Stafford police are asking that anyone with information on a traffic accident Saturday morning, at Route 539 mile post 11 by Cedar Bridge Road, contact them. The one-car accident, involving a 1999 green Chevy Prism, occurred at 11:22 a.m. on Saturday, November 10. The car was driven by Robert C. Dalton, 47,  of Easley, South Carolina.  The vehicle was traveling south on Route 539 when it drove off the left side of the roadway onto the grassy area, continued across Cedar Bridge Road and back onto the grassy area on the left side of 539, where it proceeded to overturn several times, ejecting Dalton from the vehicle.  Police said Dalton sustained severe trauma and he was subsequently flown to Atlantic City Medical Trauma Center.  The incident…

Ship Bottom resident was processed and released.

A 19-year-old Ship Bottom resident was arrested and charged with marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession after he was stopped Friday at the checkpoint to get onto Long Beach Island. On Friday, November 9, Thomas Walters was arrested and charged at the Route 72 and Marsha checkpoint after Detective Jason Costello, of the Stafford Police Department and Patrolman Tim Butler, of the Harvey Cedars Police Department, detected the odor of marijuana "emanating from inside Walters' vehicle." Police had been conducting a routine identification check so Walters could reenter the island following Hurricane Sandy. At Least 10 Days Before Return to LBI, Police Say

Stafford police asking people to call 9-1-1 for emergencies only.

A day after Hurricane Sandy passed through the area, Stafford Police were asking that people call 9-1-1 to reach them, as downed power lines shorted their communication systems, and police in Harvey Cedars noted it would likely be at least 10 days before people could return to Long Beach Island. "We're asking people to call 9-1-1 if they need us, and please emergency calls only," Lt. Tom Dellane told Patch at the emergency operations center in the Stafford Township municipal complex today.
